Officer Charles Cassidy, shot yesterday in a robbery in North Philadelphia, has died, CBS 3 reported, citing sources at the Fraternal Order of Police.
He was pronounced dead at 9:40 a.m., KYW NewsRadio reported.
Cassidy, 54, a married father of three, was taken to nearby Einstein Medical Center for emergency surgery to relieve swelling in his brain and was listed in critical condition through the night.
